Editors, Vineyard Gazette:

I was concerned to learn that a popular medical facility, Dr. Monto’s office in West Tisbury, was planning on ending their services on the Vineyard.

My understanding is that a lack of cooperation between the hospital and Dr. Monto’s facility was the cause.

The Island can not afford to lose any more private medical practices. The Island needs to support, encourage and maintain both public and private medical practices for the community.

Not only will the closing of this facility be a loss of skilled jobs, but it will create further delays for Islanders seeking medical care.

I look forward to a reporter from the Gazette exploring why we are seeing a trend of doctors leaving their practices on the Island.
