The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.

Feb. 13

Jason M. Canha, 40, of West Tisbury, arraigned on Feb. 8 charges in West Tisbury of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and a marked lanes violation. Bail set at $1,000, and a pretrial hearing scheduled for Feb. 21.

Jason M. Canha, 40, of West Tisbury, arraigned on Feb. 8 charge in West Tisbury of miscellaneous statutory violations for allegedly driving during a mandatory statewide driving ban during the snowstorm on Feb. 8. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Feb. 21.

Robert J. Elliott, 53, of Edgartown, pleaded guilty to June 28 charges in Edgartown of drunken driving, second offense, (amended from drunken driving) and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Placed on probation for two years, ordered to complete a 14-day inpatient program and aftercare, to remain alcohol-free with screens, and ordered to pay $350 in fees and a $65 monthly probation services fee. A charge of operating a motor vehicle with license suspended was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Nelson M. Ferreira, 37, of Edgartown, arraigned on a Feb. 11 charge in Edgartown of domestic assault and battery. Bail set at $500, pretrial hearing continued to March 7.

Thomas Norbury, 57, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on Feb. 10 charge in Oak Bluffs of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a bar stool). According to documents filed in court, he was allegedly involved in an altercation at the Ritz in which he allegedly hit another man in the head with a bar stool. Pretrial hearing scheduled for March 25.

Feb. 14

David G. Perrier, 39, of Oak Bluffs , admitted to sufficient facts on a Nov. 15 charge in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving, continued without a finding for one year. Ordered to complete a 24-day driver alcohol education program, to lose license for 45 days, and pay $600 in fees and a $65 monthly probation services fee. Charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle were dismissed upon request of the commonwealth, and he was found not responsible on a charge of speeding in violation of special regulation.

Lucas J. Riordan, 36, of Rockland, pleaded guilty to a June 18 charge in Edgartown of drunken driving, second offense, ordered to spend 90 days in a house of correction, suspended two years. Ordered to pay $350 in fees and a $65 monthly probation services fee, and to complete a 14-day inpatient program, aftercare and supervision. A responsible finding was filed for a marked lanes violation, ordered to pay a $100 fine/assessment. Charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and an uninsured motor vehicle were dismissed upon request of the commonwealth, and was found not responsible for a charge of unregistered motor vehicle.

Feb. 15

Ian G. Brew, 20, of West Tisbury, had a May 4 charge of trespassing in Vineyard Haven dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Ian G. Brew, 20, of West Tisbury, admitted to sufficient facts on a May 13 charge in Oak Bluffs of threat to commit a crime, continued without a finding for two years. Ordered not to abuse the alleged victim, comply with all Department of Mental Health orders including medication and counseling, placed on administrative probation until released from Department of Mental Health custody, and then supervised probation. A charge of assault was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Dominique A. Hendelman, 31, of Edgartown, pleaded guilty to an August 26 charge in Oak Bluffs of drunken driving, ordered to pay $1,100 in fines and assessments. A charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth, found not responsible on charges of marked lanes violation and speeding in violation of special regulation.

Taylor L. Higgins, 19, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on a Dec. 19 charge in Edgartown of larceny more than $250 for allegedly stealing more than $600 from Trader Fred’s, where she was employed. Pretrial hearing scheduled for March 15.

Taylor L. Higgins, 19, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on Jan. 29 charges in Vineyard Haven of trespassing, receiving stolen property and two counts of criminal harassment. The charges stem from allegedly sending threatening/harassing messages to an ex-boyfriend and his girlfriend. Pretrial hearing scheduled for March 15.

Kerigan Whalen, 19, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on Jan. 29 charges in Vineyard Haven of breaking and entering a building in the daytime for a felony, receiving stolen property more than $250 (an Xbox and games) and larceny more than $250. Pretrial hearing scheduled for March 15.

Feb. 19

Erich D. Luening, 44, of West Tisbury, was arraigned on Dec. 22 charges in West Tisbury of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, and speeding. Pretrial hearing scheduled for March 21.

Jesse J. Smith, 29, of Vineyard Haven, pleaded guilty to an Oct. 18 charge in Vineyard Haven of assault and battery. Ordered to spend six months in a house of correction with 14 days to serve, deemed served, balance suspended two years and placed on probation for two years. Ordered to pay a $50 victim/witness fee and a $65 monthly probation services fee. Ordered not to abuse the alleged victim, to remain alcohol free with screens, and to complete substance abuse counseling as mandated by probation. A charge of intimidating a witness was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Jesse J. Smith, 29, of Vineyard Haven, pleaded guilty to a Feb. 3 charge in Vineyard Haven of violating an abuse prevention order, placed on probation for two years. Ordered not to abuse the victim, to remain alcohol-free with screens and complete substance abuse treatment as mandated by probation. A charge of assault was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.
