The girls' hockey team continues its hunt for the postseason Saturday with a home meet against Hanover. The puck drops at 1 p.m. at the Martha's Vineyard Arena. At 5 p.m. the boys' hockey team will take on Bishop Feehan.

The weekend action comes on the heels of successful midweek play. On Wednesday the girls' hockey team moved to a 7-4-2 record with a 3-1 win against Bourne. Sophomore Aubrey Ashmun scored two goals on breakaways, and senior captain Kassidy Bettencourt notched her own unassisted goal in the third period. The boys are fresh off a  4-4 tie to Bishop Stang, their first draw of the season. The Vineyard played a particularly noteworthy first period, firing on both the offensive and defensive cylinders. Sophomore Emerson Mahoney scored twice for the Vineyard. Juniors Sam Burke and Brian Fraser also tallied for the team. The boys are now 10-3-1.  

Both basketball teams faced Somerset, picking up league wins. The boys defeated the Raiders 65-51; senior captain Izak Browne led the scoring with 21 points. Senior Jahmari Thomas had one of his best games of the season, scoring 15 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. The team is 13-3. 

The girls earned a 58-44 victory to move to a 12-3 record. Senior Maggie Riseborough scored 15 points, and senior captain Jennie Lindland notched 14. Senior captain Katie Stewart scored 13 points. The team defense held Somerset to 5 points in the second quarter. 

The swim team hosted Coyle and Cassidy, with the boys losing to the Warriors by just two points, 57-55, and the girls picking up a 78-69 win. The girls had five first-place event finishes: freshman Kate Hansen in the 200-metre freestyles (with freshman Jess Sonia right behind her for second), sophomore Galya Walt in the 100-metre butterfly, junior Jessica Campbell in the 500-metre freestyle, junior Mariah Campbell in the 100-metre breaststroke, and the 200-metre freestyle relay team.
