More good news from the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard this week. The last two kittens, brother and sister Cedric and Cherry were adopted together.

The shelter is down to four adult cats who are looking for their forever homes. Rex, the elderly tuxedo lady, and Brody, the sweet old gentleman who needs to be an indoor cat only. Both of these cats will have their adoption fees waived since they have been hard to place because of their age. Our two new cats are Buffy, a beautiful white kitty with tabby markings and blue eyes (she may be part Siamese because of her beautiful blue eyes) and DJ, a handsome big tuxedo lap cat. Both of these cats are affectionate and will certainly be loving additions to a new home.

There is a sweet little female black and white hamster named Bean, and the tan and white guinea pig Bella is still here.

Now that the holidays are over, is there a classroom that would like to have a little animal to love? Small animals are wonderful teaching tools for young children. They help them to learn how to be kind to all creatures.

Shelter hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday and Monday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.

Contributions are always gratefully accepted; the shelter is funded solely by donations. Please make checks payable to The Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard; the mailing address is P.O. Box 1829, Edgartown MA 02539.
