On Sunday, Dec. 16, beginning at 4 p.m. the 11th annual Songs of Peace and Hope and Light concert will be performed at the Hebrew Center in Vineyard Haven. Actually, performed does not do the program justice. For part of the concert the audience is invited to join in and make their own voices heard as part of a community sing.

“It’s not a Christmas or holiday concert but songs that make me happy and hopeful,” Roberta Kirn said. Ms. Kirn first created the concert when she was the music teacher at the Charter School. It grew out of her monthly community sings held at the school and inspired by the a cappella singing of Sweet Honey in the Rock.

The concert is free and will highlight songs from around the world.
