Chilmark has taken on a definite gray color because of the sudden loss of many of the leaves due to the northeaster. There are still some pretty trees in sheltered parts of the town, but our vistas are winter-bare in many places.

Work has begun on the rebuilding of the fuel dock in Menemsha harbor. A wood dock will replace the one being removed and gas tanks will be replaced.

We send condolences to the friends and family of Mike Pease who died last Saturday. He was well-known to many in Chilmark and beyond who will miss his presence among us. His wife, Mary Jane, survives him. An obituary will follow in a future edition of this paper.

There are many possibilities to shop for holiday gift items as well. And, if you are looking for a great place to meet a friend for lunch, the market is the place. The food sold there is plentiful and attractive.
