The Holmes Hole Sailing Association continued its fall racing series with a 3.25 mile harbor race on Thursday, Oct. 18. Six boats came to the 4:30 p.m. start. Phil Hale’s Wicked, a 30-foot Shields, won first place in moderate easterly wind. Mr. Hale was followed by Roger Becker in Gloria, Jerry Goodale in Stormalong, Geoff Gibson in Latonka and David Lott in Avanti. Moffett race winner Jared Hammond sailed a good race in Andiamo, but was disqualified for an early start.

The evening race series will conclude on Oct. 25. The race starts at 4:30 p.m.

Last Sunday 10 Holmes Hole sailors participated in the six and a half-mile harbor race during a crisp, sun filled autumn day with a 10 knot easterly wind. Mo Flam single-handed his Alerion 28, Penelope, to first place on corrected time. Phil Hale placed second in Wicked, followed by Roger Becker in Gloria, Dan Culkin in Magic Time., Mike Loberg in Masquerade and David Lott in Avanti.

The final race in the sailing association’s fall series will take place Sunday, Oct. 28. The race committee will announce season standings and award the Hugh Schwarz cup to the skipper of the winning boat. The race starts at 10 a.m.
