The Martha’s Vineyard Art Association and Old Sculpin Gallery are holding a new show featuring the underwater photography of Benjamin McCormick. There will be a reception on Sunday, Sept. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m.

To say Mr. McCormick specializes in underwater action images is to do him a disservice. What he captures goes beyond specialization to some other place where the fish actually seem to perform for him, or at least invite him into their inner sanctum. Case in point a shot of a Weakfish, its mouth open wide and about to chomp on a minnow, or an close up of a squid’s eye. His work is a visit to an undersea world hidden from most and brought to life in vivid color. Check it out.

The show continues through Sept. 14 and also includes artists Alison Convery, Janis Langely and Ed Schulman.
