The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court:

August 16

Jason T. Ash, 40, of West Tisbury, admitted to sufficient facts on an August 13 charge of drunken driving in West Tisbury, continued without a finding for one year. Ordered to pay $350 in fees and a $65 monthly probation services fee, to complete a 24-day alcohol education program and to lose license for 45 days. Found responsible for a charge of speeding in violation of special regulation, ordered to pay $500 in fines for allegedly driving 75 miles per hour in a 25-mile per hour zone. Charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Alexander R. Jernegan, 19, of Edgartown, pleaded guilty to a July 14 charge in Vineyard Haven of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, placed on probation for one year. Ordered to pay $300 in fines and a $65 monthly probation services fee. Admitted to sufficient facts on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with license suspended, continued without a finding for one year. Charges of a number plate violation and an uninsured motor vehicle were dismissed upon request of the commonwealth, and found not responsible for an unregistered motor vehicle and speeding in violation of special regulation.

August 17

Zadoc E. Moreis, 26, of Vineyard Haven, pleaded guilty to a Feb. 19 charge of assault and battery in Oak Bluffs, placed on probation for one year. Ordered to pay a $50 victim/witness assessment fee and a $65 monthly probation services fee and to remain alcohol-free with screens. Charges of disorderly conduct, threat to commit a crime and intimidating a witness were dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Matthew R. Rocheleau, 30, of Dartmouth, pleaded guilty to a June 23 charge of assault and battery in Oak Bluffs, ordered to pay $250 in fines. Charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest were dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

August 20

Craig Arnold, 47, of West Tisbury, arraigned on August 19 charges in West Tisbury of trespassing and disturbing the peace. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 28.

Shirley B. Da Silva, 28, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on August 19 charges in West Tisbury of drunken driving and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 6.

Michael Donovan, 54, of Orlando, Fla. arraigned on August 17 charges in Aquinnah of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assault and battery on a police officer. The charges stem from an alleged incident at the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) administrative building, where Mr. Donovan was allegedly inside the building yelling racial slurs and profanity. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 24.

Leandro S. Simao, 24, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on August 18 charges in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 17.

August 23

William Benedetto, 41, of Beverly, arraigned on an August 21 charge in Oak Bluffs of breaking and entering a vehicle/boat in the nighttime for felony. According to a police report filed in court, a family of four sleeping on a sailboat at the Oak Bluffs harbor was allegedly awakened by Mr. Benedetto, who entered their passenger compartment. Bail was set at $500, pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 20.

Kevin J. Deoliveira Jr., 33, of East Falmouth, arraigned on an August 22 charge in Oak Bluffs of assault and battery. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 24.

James L. Harper, 65, of Edgartown, arraigned on July 29 charges in Vineyard Haven of larceny more than $250 and larceny from a building. The charges stem from allegedly taking jewelry valued at $15,000 to $20,000 from his sister in law, a Vineyard Haven resident, and taking three gold rings to a New Haven pawn shop. Bail was set at $5,000, pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 20.

Lauren L.W. Oskan, 33, of West Tisbury, had June 10 charges in West Tisbury of criminal harassment and annoying telephone calls/electronic communication dismissed upon request of the victim. June 1 charges in West Tisbury of criminal harassment and annoying telephone calls/electronic communications were also dismissed upon request of the victim.

August 24

Osman Boswell, 32, of Edgartown, admitted to sufficient facts on a June 21 charge in Edgartown of assault and battery, continued without a finding for 18 months. Ordered to pay a $50 victim/witness assessment fee and a $50 monthly probation services fee, to complete 20 hours of community service, and not to abuse the victim.

Anthony M. Cardoza, 22, of Vineyard Haven, was arraigned on June 17 charges in Oak Bluffs of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and speeding. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 21.

Joseph V. Cormier, 47, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on two counts of trespassing on July 8 in Vineyard Haven. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 12.

Kevin J. Leaf Jr., 28, of Wakefield, R.I., admitted to sufficient facts on March 18 charges of drunken driving and resisting arrest in Vineyard Haven, continued without a finding for one year. For the first charge, ordered to pay $600 in fees and a $65 monthly probation services fee, complete a 24-day alcohol education program and lose license for 45 days.

Matthew S. Look, 32, of Vineyard Haven, pleaded guilty to a July 23 charge in Edgartown of larceny from a building, ordered to 90 days in a house of correction, 17 days of credit given, and to submit a DNA sample. The charge stemmed from breaking into the Martha’s Vineyard Boys’ and Girls’ Club. A charge of breaking and entering a building in the nighttime for a felony was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Henry T. Parent, 21, of Edgartown, admitted to sufficient facts on a Sept. 15, 2010 charge of drunken driving in Vineyard Haven, continued without a finding for one year. Ordered to pay $350 in fees and a $65 monthly probation services fee, remain alcohol free with screens and to lose license for 24 days. Also admitted to sufficient facts on charges of leaving the scene of property damage and using a motor vehicle without authority, continued without a finding for one year. A charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth, and was found not responsible for speeding in violation of special regulation and a marked lanes violation.

August 27

Michaela Bavis, 22, of Boston, arraigned on an August 25 charge of vandalizing property on Oak Bluffs. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 27.

Luke D. Dunlap, 19, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on August 26 charge in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving, speeding and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 21.

David Hedley 3rd, 43, of San Francisco, placed on pretrial probation on July 6 charges in Edgartown of keeping a noisy and disorderly house and selling/delivery of liquor to a person under 21. (Case was closed on March 1, 2013.)

Dominique A. Hendelman, 30, of Edgartown, arraigned on August 26 charges in Oak Bluffs of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, and speeding in violation of special regulation. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Feb. 15 at the defendant’s request.

Alexandra Kelley, 23, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on an August 25 charge of assault and battery in Oak Bluffs. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 27.

Derek G. Loonan, 25, of Sandwich, arraigned on an August 22 charge in Oak Bluffs of receiving a stolen credit card. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 27.

Derek G. Loonan, 25, of Sandwich, arraigned on August 26 charges in Oak Bluffs of receiving stolen property (a laptop) and possessing class E drugs (Tramadol). Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 27.
