The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.

August 9

Jackson W. Bicknell, 19, of Andover, N.H., arraigned on August 3 charges in Chilmark of malicious destruction of property more than $250 and selling or delivering liquor to a person under 21. The charges stem from allegedly hosting a house party at a South Road home he was house-sitting while the owners were at the London Olympics. The party allegedly caused more than $22,000 in damage to rugs, floors, the oven and artwork. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Oct. 5.

Bruce J. Biller, 65, of Sudbury, arraigned on August 9 charges in West Tisbury of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and obstructing a stationary emergency vehicle. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 14.

Jennifer Brown, 33, of Edgartown, arraigned on August 7 charges in West Tisbury of drunken driving, second offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, a state highway traffic violation, possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, speeding and failure to wear a seat belt. The charges stem from Ms. Brown allegedly rear-ending another car on State Road, causing the other car to roll over. Bail set at $10,000 cash, pretrial hearing continued to Sept. 7.

Maxo Cadet, 43, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on an August 6 charge of assault and battery in Vineyard Haven. The charges stem from allegedly assaulting his nephew. According to an immigration detainer filed in court, Mr. Cadet is from Haiti and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has obtained an order of deportation for him, bail was set at $10,000. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 6.

Frank E. Canonico, 54, of Edgartown, pleaded guilty to a July 8 charge in West Tisbury of drunken driving, second offense. Ordered to spend 90 days in a house of correction, suspended two years and placed on probation for two years, to complete a 14-day inpatient program and aftercare, and to pay $100 in fees and a $65 monthly probation services fee. A charge of operating a motor vehicle with license suspended will be dismissed if $200 in court costs are paid by Sept. 12. Found not responsible for a marked lanes violation.

Martin Lee Hayes, 23, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on August 7 charges in Vineyard Haven of assault and battery, violating an abuse prevention order and assault to murder. The allegations stem from allegedly squeezing the neck of his on-again, off-again girlfriend. Bail was set at $10,000, pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 6.

Matthew Look, 23, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on July 23 charges in Edgartown of larceny from a building and breaking and entering a building in the nighttime for felony. The charges stem from allegedly breaking into the Martha’s Vineyard Boys’ and Girls’ Club. Bail set at $500, pretrial hearing continued to August 24.

Patrick S. Medeiros, 27, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on August 8 charges in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving, possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and speeding in violation of special regulations. Pretrial hearing continued to Sept. 7.

Patrick S. Medeiros, 27, of Oak Bluffs, admitted to sufficient facts on a May 4 charge in Oak Bluffs of drunken driving, continued without a finding for one year. Ordered to pay $350 in fees and to complete a 24-day driver education program and to lose license for 45 days. Found not responsible for a charge of possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Asa Ray, 23, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on August 9 charges in Oak Bluffs of receiving a stolen credit card and improper use of a credit card under $250. Pretrial hearing scheduled for August 23.

Jose J. Rodriguez Jr., 28, of Taunton, pleaded guilty to a June 11, 2011 charge in Oak Bluffs of aggravated assault and battery. Ordered to spend two and a half years in a house of correction, suspended two years, and placed on probation for two years. Ordered to pay $15,000 in restitution and a $90 victim/witness assessment fee, and to stay away from the victim. The charges stem from allegedly punching another man in the face, with the man then airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital to be treated for a broken orbital and sinus cavity and three brain bleeds, according to a police report filed in court.

Shawn E. Spillane, 43, of Wareham, arraigned on an August 8 charge of assault and battery in Vineyard Haven. Bail set at $750, pretrial hearing continued to Sept. 17.

August 16

Amanda R. Berninger, 30, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on an August 13 charge in Oak Bluffs of assault and battery. Pretrial hearing scheduled for August 31.

August 17

Tara M. Araujo, 39, of Vineyard Haven, pleaded guilty to an Oct. 8, 2011 charge of drunken driving, second offense. Ordered to spend 90 days in a house of correction, suspended two years and placed on probation for two years. Ordered to a 14-day inpatient program and after care, and to lose license for two years, pay $100 in fees and a $65 monthly probation services fee. Found not responsible for a motor vehicle lights violation and no inspection sticker.

Jason L. Gray, 28, of Edgartown, admitted to sufficient facts on a June 15 charge in Oak Bluffs of drunken driving, continued without a finding for one year. Ordered to pay $600 in fees and a $65 monthly probation services fee, complete a 24-day alcohol eduction program and to lose license for 45 days. Charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle dismissed upon request of the commonwealth, found not responsible for a marked lanes violation.

August 20

Joseph Amaral, 35, of West Tisbury, arraigned on August 17 charges in Vineyard Haven of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Bail set at $500, pretrial hearing set for Sept. 21.

Stephen J. Brown, 24, of Edgartown, arraigned on an April 29 charge in Edgartown of malicious destruction of property more than $250. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 21.

Keon Ebron, 23, of Mattapan, arraigned on an August 11 charge in West Tisbury of larceny less than $250 for allegedly stealing a check from a West Tisbury woman’s mailbox. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 14.

Mark Iacoviello, 54, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on August 17 charges in Oak Bluffs of disorderly conduct and assault and battery for allegedly acting belligerently and shoving a woman at Sharky’s Cantina. Pretrial hearing scheduled for Oct. 5.

Connor S. Parent, 18, of Danvers, will have August 4 charges in Oak Bluffs of malicious destruction of property less than $250 (amended from malicious destruction of property more than $250), malicious destruction of property less than $250 (amended from vandalizing property) and larceny less than $250 (amended from larceny more than $250) dismissed if eight hours of community service for each charge are completed by Sept. 19.

Corey Parent, 23, of Danvers, will have August 4 charges in Oak Bluffs of malicious destruction of property less than $250 (amended from malicious destruction of property more than $250), malicious destruction of property less than $250 (amended from vandalizing property) and larceny less than $250 (amended from larceny more than $250) dismissed if eight hours of community service for each charge are completed by Sept. 19.
