Gay Head Gallery
This weekend the Gay Head Gallery is hosting a reception on Sunday, Aug. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. for its latest show entitled Endangered Lands and Water: The Intrinsic Value of Wild Nature. The gallery seeks to promote conservation and environmental education through its artists, and this show is no different. The exhibit is a benefit for the Vineyard Conservation Society and the Moshup Trail Project — an ongoing conservation effort to protect globally rare habitat.
Several artists, including photographer Barbara Norfleet and painter Linda Thompson, will talk about how their art is inspired by wild nature. Luanne Johnson, VCS board member and wildlife biologist, will speak on the topic of endangered species and the Moshup Trail Project.
Other artists featured in the exhibit include Liz Taft, Julia Purinton, Barney Zeitz, Zaria Forman and many more.
The Gay Head Gallery is located on State Road, after the Lobsterville sign, on the left before the Aquinnah town hall. Regular hours are Thursday through Monday from noon to 6 p.m. It is also open by appointment. Call Megan Ottens-Sargent at 508-645-2776.
