The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court:

May 29

Tad Medeiros, 26, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on May 25 Oak Bluffs charges of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage, marked lanes violation, and possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Pretrial hearing scheduled for June 25.

Joseph A. Jones, 23, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on May 26 Tisbury charges of drunken driving, marked lanes violation, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. June 25 pretrial hearing scheduled.

Latoya L. Gatlin, 28, of Roslindale, arraigned on a May 28 Chilmark charge of defrauding an innkeeper of more than $100. In a separate case, she was arraigned on May 28 Chilmark charges of possessing to distribute class D drugs (marijuana). Pretrial hearing for both scheduled for July 19.

Bernard C. Mullen 4th, 31, of Springfield, arraigned on May 26 Oak Bluffs charges of drunken driving, vandalizing property, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop/yield, marked lanes violation, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, leaving the scene of property damage, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Bail was set at $1,000, and a pretrial hearing continued to June 7.

May 30

Thomas R. Crowdis 4th, 20, of Ply-mouth, arraigned on May 29 charges of a person under 21 procuring liquor and false/misuse of liquor identification card or license. Pretrial hearing scheduled for June 22.

Nicholas A. Barbera, 26, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on May 30 Tisbury charges of assault and battery and assault with a dangerous weapon (a pen). Bail was set at $500, pretrial hearing scheduled for June 7.

June 1

Patrick Masse, 48, of West Tisbury, arraigned on May 31 West Tisbury charges of drunken driving, third offense, marked lanes violation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, using a motor vehicle without authority, failure to stop for police, operating a motor vehicle with license revoked as a habitual traffic offender, and speeding. Bail set at $5,000, pretrial hearing scheduled for June 8.

June 4

Scott A. Francis, 46, of Edgartown, pleaded guilty to four April 19 Edgartown charges of shoplifting by asportation. He was ordered to pay a $100 fine for each charge and one $50 victim witness assessment fee.

Benjamin M. Higgins, 32, of Vineyard Haven, admitted to sufficient facts on a Jan. 5 Tisbury charge of larceny more than $250, continued without a finding for six months. Ordered to pay $350 in restitution and a $90 victim/witness assessment fee. In a separate case, he admitted to sufficient facts for a Jan. 17 Edgartown charge of larceny more than $250 by false pretense, continued without a finding for six months. Ordered to pay $350 in restitution, a $90 victim/witness assessment fee, and a $50 monthly probation services fee. The charges stem from allegations that he cashed checks for wood, but did not deliver the product to his customers.
