Gelatin Photography

Silver-toned gelatin may sound like an expensive and dangerous dessert, but be assured it isn’t. Vineyard resident and photographer Janet Woodcock will give a talk about her art – traditional silver-toned gelatin photography – on Saturday, June 9, at 5 p.m. at the Louisa Gould Gallery located at 54 Main street in Vineyard Haven.

Ms. Woodcock bought her first camera at age 17 and still uses it today. Through that lens, she has captured the color and chatter of the Island in shades of gray. On Saturday, she will discuss the artistic process that makes such a feat possible. Her work is currently being shown at the Memorial Day Group Show (on exhibit until June 13).

And in case all the gelatin talk gets stomachs growling, light refreshments will be served.
