Bee School

Bee School is back for the second year. The Island Grown Initiative’s intensive eight-hour course on beekeeping with Everett Zurlinden takes place Saturday, March 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Island Cohousing in West Tisbury.

The course, called Bee School 102, is suitable for beginners, but aimed at current beekeepers looking to increase their knowledge. Bee School 102 will begin with a review of important beekeeping tasks, then go into more detail on mite and swarm control, spring buildup and methods of splitting hives.

The workshop is $100 and includes materials and dinner on Saturday evening. Space is limited; to register e-mail Island Grown Bees Coordinator Randi Baird at randi@islandgrown.org or go to islandgrown.org/pollination.
