The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.
Andrew W. Jacobs, 28, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned for Feb. 9 charges in Oak Bluffs of drunken driving, marked lanes violation, improper turn, speeding in violation of special regulation, and possessing class E (Adderal) drugs. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for March 9.
Victoria R. Phillips, 59, of West Tisbury pleaded guilty to an Oct. 28 charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle in Vineyard Haven. Placed on probation for one year and ordered to pay $300 in fees and a $50 monthly probation services fee, and to complete 24 hours of community service by August 8. An Oct. 28 charge of drunken driving was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.
Charles J. Rutowski, 31, of Oak Bluffs pleaded guilty to larceny of more than $250 on Nov. 20 in Oak Bluffs. He was placed on probation for three years, and ordered to serve an 18-month jail sentence, suspended for three years, to remain illicit drug free with random screens, and pay a $90 fee. A restitution hearing is scheduled for March 1.
Christopher Derr, 48, of Boston, pleaded guilty to an August 1 charge of breaking and entering for misdemeanor in Vineyard Haven, Ordered to serve six months in jail, suspended two years, and placed on probation for two years. Must also pay a $50 fee and $65 monthly probation services fee, remain alcohol free with random screens, stay away from the victim, and serve 40 hours of community service.
Kyle Mulvey, 21, of Edgartown, admitted to sufficient facts in a Dec. 17 charge of drunken driving in Edgartown, continued without a finding for a year. Ordered to pay $350 in fees and a $65 monthly probation services fee, complete a 24-day alcohol education program, and to lose license for 45 days. A charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth, and he was found not responsible for speeding in violation of special regulation.
Craig T. Rowe, 28, of Philadelphia, Pa., had a June 18 charge of assault and battery dismissed at the request of the commonwealth. Admitted to sufficient facts for a charge of disorderly conduct, continued without a finding for six months. Ordered to pay a $50 fee and a $50 monthly probation services fee.
Joseph V. Cormier, 46 of Vineyard Haven, arraigned for assault and battery on Feb. 10 in Vineyard Haven for allegedly assaulting his live-in girlfriend. Bail was set at $400, ordered not to abuse or contact alleged victim, and a pretrial hearing set for March 19.
Christopher S. Francis, 37, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned for violating an abuse prevention order on Feb. 10 in Vineyard Haven. Bail set at $500, and a Feb. 15 pretrial hearing scheduled.
Breanna M. McCormick, 23, of Edgartown, arraigned for drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and a marked lanes violation in Oak Bluffs. Bail set at $200, and a pretrial hearing scheduled for March 19.
Michael A. Southwick, 37, of Oak Bluffs, pleaded guilty to an Oct. 8 charge of assault and battery in Oak Bluffs. Placed on probation for 18 months, ordered to pay a $50 victim witness fee and a $65 monthly probation services fee, and undergo evaluation and counseling as mandated by probation.
Adalberto Pires, 38, of Oak Bluffs, was arraigned for a Feb. 11 charge of distributing class B (cocaine) drugs and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in Edgartown. According to the police report, Mr. Pires was allegedly going to sell the drugs in Vineyard Haven, and Oak Bluffs police canine Buster helped find 8.5 grams of cocaine inside a tennis ball in the back of his truck. Bail was set at $200, and a pretrial hearing scheduled for Feb. 21.
