The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.

Jan. 27

Daniel P. Weber, 32, of Edgartown, arraigned for Jan. 26 charge of inhaling a toxic substance. Pretrial hearing Feb. 23.

Jan. 30

Michael Southwick, 37, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on Oak Bluffs charges of assault and battery and attempted murder on Jan. 28. Alleged to have attacked and attempted to strangle a live-in girlfriend. Bail at $2,000, ordered to stay away from the victim. Pretrial hearing Feb. 3.

Samuel Mercier, 24, of Oak Bluffs, admitted to sufficient facts on a Jan. 28 drunken driving charge, continued without a finding for one year. Ordered to pay $350 in fines, complete a 24-day alcohol education program, forfeit license for 45 days. Found responsible for possession of open container of alcohol, ordered to pay $500 fine. Charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle dismissed upon request of commonwealth.

Feb. 2

Daniel Parker, 59, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on three Jan. 22 Tisbury charges of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14. Ordered to have no contact with alleged victim or victim’s guardian, and no unsupervised contact with children. Bail at $5,000.

Dennis Vogel, 53, of New Bedford, arraigned on Feb. 1 Oak Bluffs charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, plate violation to conceal identity and uninsured motor vehicle. Pretrial hearing Feb. 27

Alexandre Alves, 24, of Edgartown, pleaded guilty to Jan. 5 Oak Bluffs charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Sentenced to 90 days in house of correction, suspended 18 months, and 18 months of probation. Must complete 20 hours of community service, attend safety class and pay $300 in fines plus a $65 monthly probation fee. Found responsible for not having an inspection sticker, must pay $50 fine.

Duane Dillard, 70, of Hagerstown, Md., admitted to sufficient facts on June 24, 2011 Edgartown charge of assault and battery to intimidate a witness, continued without a finding for 18 months. Ordered to pay as yet undetermined restitution, plus $50 fine and $50 monthly probation fee.

Joann Hathaway, 53, of Edgartown, arraigned on Oct. 12, 2011 West Tisbury charges of breaking and entering into a building during the daytime to commit a felony, larceny under $250 and possession of Class B drug (oxycodone). Pretrial hearing March 23. Alleged to have broken into several unlocked West Tisbury homes in search of prescription pills.

Joann Hathaway, 53, of Edgartown, arraigned on Oct. 5, 2011 West Tisbury charges of breaking and entering into a building during daytime to commit a felony, larceny under $250 and possession of a Class C drug (valium). Pretrial hearing March 23. Ordered to remain drug free with screens and meet with probation officer twice a week.

Joann Hathaway, 53, of Edgartown, arraigned on Oct. 12, 2011 West Tisbury charges of breaking and entering into a building during daytime to commit a felony, larceny under $250 and possession of a Class B drug (hydrocodone). Pretrial hearing March 23.

Claudio Nunes, 37, of Edgartown, will have a Jan. 20 Edgartown charge of unlicensed operation of motor vehicle dismissed upon payment of $100 court costs and completion of eight hours community service. Found responsible for unregistered motor vehicle charge and ordered to pay $100 fine.

Jesse Silva, 44, of Edgartown, arraigned on Nov. 13 Oak Bluffs uninsured motor vehicle and unregistered motor vehicle charges, plus license plate violation intended to conceal identity. Pretrial hearing March 8.

Jesse Silva, 44, of Edgartown, arraigned on Nov. 14 Oak Bluffs charges for unregistered motor vehicle, unlicensed motor vehicle and license plate violation to conceal identity. Pretrial hearing March 8.

Feb. 3

Dennis Vogel, 53, of Oak Bluffs, admitted to sufficient facts on Aug. 11, 2011 charges of possessing a firearm without permit and improper storage of a firearm, continued without a finding for one year. Ordered to surrender guns, pay $50 fine and $50 monthly probation fee.

Kevin Leaf, 27, of Wakefield, R.I., will have a March 6, 2011 charge of malicious destruction of property over $250 dismissed upon payment of $268.

Kevin Leaf, 27, of Wakefield, R.I., had a May 6, 2011 license plate violation charge from Tisbury dismissed. Found not responsible for charges of unregistered and improper operation of a motor vehicle. Admitted to sufficient facts for uninsured motor vehicle and unathorized use of motor vehicle charges, continued without finding for one year.

Sherry Winnette, 59, of Vineyard Haven, had an Oct. 24, 2011 Edgartown charge of driving under the influence of drugs dismissed upon request of commonwealth. Pleaded guilty to negligent operation of motor vehicle; ordered to two years of probation, must remain drug and alcohol free with screens and pay $300 in fines. Found not responsible for marked lanes violation charge.

Feb. 6

Adaaro Blackhawk, 17, of West Tisbury, arraigned on three charges of assault and battery and one charge of malicious destruction of property over $250 on Feb. 5 in West Tisbury. Pretrial hearing Feb. 17.

Scott Fielding, 18, of Vineyard Haven, admitted to sufficient facts for a Nov. 3, 2011 charge of assault and battery in Vineyard Haven, continued for one year. Must complete 60 hours community service, pay $50 fine and $50 monthly probation fee.

Joseph Fournier, 18, of Edgartown, admitted to sufficient facts for Jan. 13 Edgartown charge of assault and battery, continued for 18 months. Must pay $50 fine, $50 monthly probation fee.

Drew Moreis, 19, of Vineyard Haven, admitted to sufficient facts on Nov. 3, 2011 assault charge in Edgartown, continued without a finding for one year. Must complete 60 hours community service, pay $100 in fines.

Graham Morey, 49, of Oak Bluffs, found guilty on Sept. 29, 2011 Tisbury charge of drunken driving, second offense. Sentenced to two years probation, 14 days inpatient and aftercare, and ordered to pay $300 in fines plus $65 monthly probation fee. Charges of negligent operation of motor vehicle and possession of Class B drug (oxycodone) dismissed.

Timothy Reese, 48, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned for assault and battery on Feb. 4 in Tisbury. Pretrial conference Feb. 8.
