The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.

Dec 8

Torbelly Assis, 23, of Edgartown was arraigned on Oct. 13 charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and speeding. A pretrial conference is set for Jan. 5, 2012.

Jacob Locke, 26, had a Sept. 28, 2010 charge of operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration dismissed upon recommendation of the probation department after paying $200 in court costs.

Dec. 9

Erik Nelson, 40, of Edgartown was arraigned on Dec. 9 charges of violating an abuse prevention order. A pre-trial conference is set for Jan. 6, 2012.

Dec. 12

Christopher P. Demello, 22, of Oak Bluffs was arraigned on Dec. 9 OUI and negligent motor vehicle operation charges. Bail was set at $200 and he was released on personal recognizance. A pretrial conference has been set for Jan. 20, 2012.

April Cerrato, 24, of Vineyard Haven was arraigned on Dec. 12 charges of larceny over $250. Bail was set at $350 and a pretrial conference date scheduled for Jan. 19, 2012. Ms. Cerrato is alleged to have stolen $3,000 to $4,000 in merchandise from Island Outfitters, where she was an employee.

Andrew J. Rankin, 29, of Oak Bluffs was arraigned on a Dec. 11 assault and battery charge. Mr. Rankin is alleged to have placed a bouncer at Seasons Eatery & Pub in a choke hold and punched or slapped Seasons owner and Oak Bluffs selectman Mike Santoro in the face. Officers threatened to pepper-spray Mr. Rankin. He was released on $1,000 cash surety. A pretrial conference is scheduled for Jan. 20, 2012.

Dec. 15

Michael T. Cottens, 27, of Southborough was found guilty of a July 12 OUI offense, his second. He was sentenced to 90 days in the house of correction, suspended two years, two years of probation and 14 days of inpatient and aftercare and ordered to pay $500 restitution, $350 in other fees and a $65 monthly probation fee. He was found not responsible for a failure to wear a seat belt. A negligent operation of a motor vehicle charge was dismissed upon the recommendation of the commonwealth.

Patrick S. Lampart, 51, of Vineyard Haven had a Dec. 14 unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle charge dismissed upon recommendation of the probation department after paying $100 in court costs. He was found not responsible for a motor vehicle lights violation.

Karsten Larsen, 44, of Chilmark admitted to sufficient facts on a Oct. 9 uninsured motor vehicle charge, continued without a finding. He was ordered to pay a $50 victim/witness assessment fee. He was also found responsible for inspection sticker and unregistered motor vehicle charges and ordered to pay a total of $150 in fines.

Dec. 16

Scott Lively, 39, of Edgartown, was arraigned on two Nov. 15 charges of carrying a firearm without a license, one charge of leaving an unsecured firearm in a vehicle and one improper firearm storage charge. Bail was set at $200 and a pretrial conference scheduled for Jan. 17, 2012. He is alleged to have kept an unlicensed, unloaded shotgun unsecured in his child’s bedroom closet.

Melissa Neuner, 39, of Vineyard Haven, had her probation revoked and was sentenced to the Dukes County House of Correction with eight days credit to serve out the nine month balance of a one year sentence for a July 25 charge of violating an abuse prevention order.

Juliane Leazott, 45, of Medway, admitted to sufficient facts on a July 23 OUI charge, continued without a finding. Ordered to pay $350 in fees and $65 monthly probation fee, complete a driver alcohol education program, and forfeit her license for 45 days. A negligent motor vehicle operation charge was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth. She was found not responsible for possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and speeding in violation of a special regulation.

Dec. 19

Kyle Mulvey, 21, of Edgartown was arraigned on a Dec. 17 OUI charge and an additional charge of speeding in violation of a special regulation. Bail was set at $100. A pretrial conference was scheduled for Jan. 27, 2012.

Lisa Lane, 39, of Vineyard Haven was arraigned on OUI, marked lanes violation and negligent operation of a motor vehicle charges from Dec. 17. Bail was set at $100. A pretrial conference was scheduled for Jan. 17, 2012.

Kara Peters, 38, of Oak Bluffs had a Nov. 16 assault and battery charge dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Michael J. Lasek, 22, of Edgartown, admitted to sufficient facts on a Oct. 10 intimidating witness charge, continued without a finding for one year. Mr. Lasek also admitted to sufficient facts on a malicious destruction of property over $250 charge, continued for one year, and ordered to complete alcohol evaluation and treatment as mandated by probation, undergo random screens and pay a $50 victim/witness fee and a $50 monthly probation fee. An assault and battery charge was dismissed upon request of the commonwealth.

Daphne Valerius, 30, of Los Angeles, was arraigned on Aug. 14 charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, motor vehicle lights violation and failure to wear a seat belt. A pretrial conference was scheduled for Feb. 24, 2012.
