The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.

Oct. 20

Jamie Harper, 34, of Edgartown, arraigned on Oct. 20 charge of assault and battery. Pretrial hearing set for Nov. 19.

Courtney E. Moreis, 50, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on Oct. 19 Oak Bluffs charges that included two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of malicious destruction of property over $250, intimidating a witness and possession of a firearm without a firearms identification card. Police said he put a handgun to a woman’s head and destroyed her cell phone and laptop computer. Bail was set at $500, Nov. 3 pretrial hearing scheduled.

Oct. 21

Emily B. Cray, 19, of Oak Bluffs, admitted to sufficient facts on Sept. 9 charges in Vineyard Haven of possession of a class E drug and using a motor vehicle without authority, continued without a finding for six months. Ordered to pay $284 restitution and $50 victim witness fee. Also admitted to sufficient facts on Sept. 20 disorderly conduct charges in Vineyard Haven and Edgartown, continued without a finding for six months.

Angela Fisher, 32, of Edgartown, placed on pretrial probation for one year on May 13 charges in Edgartown of possession of class B drugs (oxycontin and oxymorphone) and conspiracy to violate drug law.

Albert P. Hutchinson, 68, of Oak Bluffs, admitted to sufficient facts on a Sept. 18 charge in Chilmark of drunken driving, continued without a finding for one year. Loss of license for 45 days, assessed a $65 monthly probation services fee and $350 in other fees. Negligent operation of motor vehicle charge was dismissed.

Garry R. Lewis, 27, of Oak Bluffs, pleaded guilty to April 24 charges in Oak Bluffs of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating motor vehicle with a suspended license. Placed on probation for one year, ordered to perform 24 hours of community service and pay $300 in fees. A drunken driving charge was dismissed. In a second case, admitted to sufficient facts on Sept. 24 charges in Oak Bluffs of possession of class B, class C and class E drugs, continued without a finding for two years. Ordered to perform 40 hours of community service and submit to random drug screens.

Greer P. Rivera, 27, of West Tisbury, admitted to sufficient facts on a 2010 West Tisbury charge of drunken driving, continued without a finding for one year. Loss of license for 45 days, ordered to pay $65 monthly probation services fee and $350 in other fees.

Mollie K. Osborne, 41, of Ambler, Pa., admitted to sufficient facts on a Sept. 6 Oak Bluffs charge of drunken driving, continued without a finding for a year. Loss of license for 45 days, ordered to pay $600 in fees and assessments.

Lawrence Vance, 49, of Oak Bluffs, pleaded guilty to a Sept. 21 Oak Bluffs charge of drunken driving, third offense. Sentenced to a two and a half-year jail sentence, ordered to serve six months (with credit for having served 31 days), balance suspended for three years. Also was ordered to perform 24 hours community service and remain alcohol free.

Holly A. Hernandez, 38, of West Hyannisport, arraigned on Sept. 22 Vineyard Haven charges of larceny from a building, larceny by check over $250 and forgery of check. Oct. 28 pretrial hearing was scheduled.

Jeffrey A. Sylvia, 23, of Vineyard Haven, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin with intent to distribute, ordered to serve two years of a two and a half-year jail sentence, with balance suspended for three years. Also ordered to pay $65 monthly probation services fee and $90 victim witness fee. Also pleaded guilty to possession of class B, C, D and E drugs with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate drug law, for which he received three years probation. During a Martha’s Vineyard Drug Task Force investigation, Mr. Sylvia and another man were arrested June 24 in Oak Bluffs and were found with 28 grams of heroin, more than 30 grams of hashish, packaged marijuana and assorted pills, according to police.

James Mickles, 22, of Boston, arraigned on an Oct. 2 Edgartown charge of larceny over $250. Oct. 28 pretrial hearing was scheduled.

Oct. 24

Scott A. Chase, 21, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on Oct. 23 Vineyard Haven charges of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and failure to stop or yield. Nov. 28 pretrial hearing scheduled.

Demetrio Garcia 3rd, 19, of West Tisbury, arraigned on Oct. 16 Edgartown charges of breaking and entering in the daytime, putting a person in fear; larceny from a building; larceny over $250; possession of a Class D drug with intent to distribute and armed robbery. Bail set at $10,000, pretrial hearing scheduled for Oct. 28. At the prosecution’s request, ordered to be kept apart in the jail from his co-defendant, Brian D. Gromoshak, 31, Oak Bluffs, who was arrested last week and charged with taking $7,000 and three pounds of marijuana from an Edgartown man, and then threatening him with a knife.

Joseph A. Nickowal, 49, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on assault and battery and intimidating a witness charges. Nov. 28 pretrial hearing scheduled.

Daniel P. Reid, 18, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on an Oct. 22 Oak Bluffs charge of domestic assault and battery on a female. Nov. 21 pretrial hearing scheduled.

Michael C. Thomas, 49, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on Oct. 22 Vineyard Haven charges of assault and battery and violation of an abuse prevention order. Ordered to have no contact with the female he is alleged to have assaulted. Nov. 28 pretrial hearing scheduled.
