Please Adopt Us

Once again this week we have some very special animals up for adoption. Another Yorkie has come to the shelter looking for a new home. Her name is Mel and she is three and spayed with all her shots up to date (as are all shelter animals). She is a sweet little girl, completely housebroken, loves to walk and is very playful and energetic as are most Yorkies. She loves people but is not fond of cats so would do best in a home without cats. She won’t be at the shelter long, so we apologize in advance if she is adopted before you read this in the Gazette.

And we haven’t had bunnies for a long time but now we have two who look exactly alike and could be twins. One is a year old and the other is about six. Both females, white with almost identical black spots, very gentle and affectionate, they love each other and it would be great if they could find a home together.

In the cat department we have a beautiful gray kitty with white paws and a white chest. She (or he) is a stray from West Tisbury, the Merry Farm Road area; she was being fed by a family there until they had to leave the Island for their winter home. She was brought to the shelter in hopes that her owners would read about her and come in to claim her. She is a big cat, probably over five years old. If she is yours, please call the shelter and come to take her home, otherwise she will be put up for adoption as soon as she has received her shots and is checked by a vet.

Our other cats who really need new homes are: Chloe, a striking brindle and black five-year-old who came from an abusive home and needs a home where she can be loved on her own terms; Storm, one of our most endearing cats who has just been spayed after giving birth to a litter of kittens, very affectionate and really just a kitten herself and is so deserving of a loving home; Adelaide, a tiger tabby and also a new young mother recently spayed; Napoleon, a handsome big tiger Maine coon cat, about a year old, friendly and sweet as is typical of the breed; Annabelle and Bart, handsome, black, friendly cats, both about two years old.

Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
