The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.

Sept. 27

Joseph Medeiros, 31, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on charges of larceny over $250, breaking into and entering a building during the daytime to commit a felony and breaking into a depository. Police said they arrested him late last month on charges he broke into a house, took a safe and stole its contents, which the victim said amounted to “thousands of dollars.” Police said that when they arrested Mr. Medeiros, he had a plastic bag full of cash they estimated to be $10,000. He was also arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute class B drugs (oxycodone) and possession with intent to distribute class C drugs (Xanax). Status review hearing scheduled for Oct. 28.

Paul X. Conroy, 24, of Edgartown, arraigned on Sept. 26 Edgartown charges of drunken driving, alcohol; drunken driving, drugs; operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and possession of a class C drug. Pretrial hearing set for Oct. 28.

John L. Harl, 32, Edgartown, arraigned on Sept. 26 Oak Bluffs charges of assault and battery against his girlfriend and disorderly conduct. Nov. 14 pretrial hearing scheduled.

Peter R. Mercier, 54, Edgartown, arraigned on Sept. 25 Vineyard Haven charge of assault of woman he had been dating. Nov. 14 pretrial hearing scheduled.

Sept. 29

Daniel R. Stewart, 43, of Las Vegas, Nev., placed on pretrial probation and case continued without a finding for a year on 1998 drunken driving charge in Oak Bluffs. Loss of license for 45 days, ordered to pay monthly $65 probation supervision fee plus $350 in other court costs. Charges of operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license, disorderly conduct and possession of a class D drug were dismissed.

George Hines, 43, of Wrentham, facing Sept. 18 charges in Edgartown of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and speeding, had his arraignment continued for one year and, if no further difficulty, charges will be dismissed.

Dennis A. Vogel, 53, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on August 11 charges in Oak Bluffs of possession of a firearm without a firearm identification card and improperly storing a firearm. Nov. 18 pretrial hearing scheduled.

Nathaniel Kistler, 48, of Edgartown, had an August 20 charge in Edgartown of domestic assault and battery dismissed because of failure of alleged victim to cooperate.

Sept. 30

Lawrence Vance, 49, of Oak Bluffs, ordered held without bail on Sept. 21 Oak Bluffs charges of drunken driving, fifth offense; operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license; failure to stop for police; improper operation of a motor vehicle; and failure to stop or yield. Oct. 21 pretrial hearing scheduled.

Peter J. Estrella, 34, of Vineyard Haven, arraigned on Sept. 30 charges in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving, second offense; negligent operation of a motor vehicle; and three other motor vehicle offenses. Nov. 14 pretrial hearing scheduled.

Graham Morey, 49, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on a Sept. 29 charge in Vineyard Haven of drunken driving, second offense; negligent operation of a motor vehicle and possession of a class B drug (oxycodone.). Nov. 14 pretrial hearing scheduled.

William R. Crabtree 2nd, 50, of Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven, pleaded guilty to charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery and intimidating a witness. Sentenced to a two and a half years in house of correction, with one year to be served after credit for 28 days. Placed on probation until March 2014 and ordered to pay a $65 monthly probation supervision fee while in counseling and a $50 monthly fee after that.

Oct. 3

James Mickles, 22, of Edgartown, arraigned on Oct. 2 charge of assault and battery in Edgartown. Pretrial hearing set for Oct. 21, ordered to have no contact with his former girlfriend. In a second Oct. 2 case, he was arraigned on charges of furnishing a false name upon arrest and possession of a class E drug. Bail set at $500.

Robert Streed, 43, of Amherst, N.H., arraigned on Oct. 1 charge in Vineyard Haven of assault and battery against a woman he had been dating. Dec. 2 pretrial hearing scheduled.
