The following cases were heard in Edgartown district court.

Sept. 12

Jamie Lynn Murphy, 25, of Edgartown, arraigned on a Sept. 11 charge of assault and battery in Edgartown involving a 24-year-old man. A pretrial hearing was set for Oct. 14.

Sept. 19

Jennifer Tuerff, 33, of Vineyard Haven, placed on pretrial probation for nine months on two July 4 charges in Oak Bluffs of assault and battery. Ordered to avoid any contact with the alleged victims, a man and a woman.

Sept. 22

David L. Millen, 17, of Vineyard Haven, admitted sufficient facts on two Sept. 20 charges of disorderly conduct, cases continued without a finding for six months. Ordered to pay $50 victim witness fee. Also admitted sufficient facts on two Sept. 9 Vineyard Haven charges of using a motor vehicle without authority, continued without a finding for six months. Ordered to pay monthly $50 probation fee and two $50 victim witness fees. Also admitted sufficient facts of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, continued without a finding for six months.

Robert J. Becchio, 53, of Vineyard Haven, admitted sufficient facts on an August 21 drunken driving charge in Edgartown, case continued without a finding for a year. Loss of license for 45 days, ordered to pay $65 monthly probation fee, assessed $350 in other fees. Charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle was dismissed.

Frank B. Malowski, 64, of Vineyard Haven, placed on pretrial probation for a year and ordered to perform 16 hours community service on an August 11 charge of carrying a dangerous weapon (.38-caliber revolver) in Vineyard Haven. In a separate case, August 11 charges of possession of chemical mace without a federal identity card and possession of a class B drug were dismissed at the request of the commonwealth.

Deborah S. Smith, 56, of Edgartown, admitted sufficient facts and was found guilty of a June 13 charge in Oak Bluffs of negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Placed on one year’s probation, ordered to perform 24 hours community service, pay a $65 monthly probation fee and $300 in other fees. A drunken driving charge was dismissed. Also placed on pretrial probation for a year on July 13 charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and malicious destruction of property in excess of $250.

Nicole M. Myers, 21, of Oak Bluffs, had a Sept. 18 charge of assault and battery dismissed at the request of the alleged victim, who said in a court document that he was satisfied with the disposition.

Sept. 23

Benjamin M. Higgins, 31, of Vineyard Haven, pleaded guilty to a Sept. 10 Vineyard Haven charge of malicious destruction of property under $250 and a July charge of violating an abuse prevention order in Oak Bluffs. Placed on probation for a year and ordered to submit to alcohol testing and counseling as deemed necessary. An assault and battery charge was dismissed.

Daniel J. Edelbach, 21, Edgartown, had a July 24 Edgartown charge of assault and battery dismissed at the request of the alleged victim, who indicated in a court document that she was satisfied with the result.

Sept. 26

Donald E. McPherson, 56, no address (homeless), arraigned on Sept. 25 Edgartown charges of indecent exposure and resisting arrest. Pretrial hearing set for Nov. 4.

Mark B. Lacourse, 28, of East Hampton, arraigned on Sept. 24 Edgartown charges of drunken driving, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a lane violation. Pretrial hearing was set for Nov. 4.

Edward T. Wood, 79, and Mary J. Wood, 79, both of Old Westbury, N.Y., had three counts of cutting or destroying trees and one of trespassing dismissed by the commonwealth. Charges stemmed from September 2010 allegations by their Edgartown neighbor Jacquelyn L. Driscoll, who told police a tree crew working on the Wood property also cut branches on her property to improve their view of Sengekontacket Pond.

Stacy A. Trevino, 43, of West Tisbury, admitted sufficient facts on a June 8 Vineyard Haven charge of drunken driving, case continued without a finding for a year. Loss of license for 45 days, ordered to pay $65 monthly probation fee and $350 in other fees. Negligent operation of a motor vehicle charge was dismissed.

Megan B. Jennings, 32, of Oak Bluffs, arraigned on an August 6 Oak Bluffs charge of assault and battery. Pretrial hearing set for Nov. 4.

Duane B. Dillard, 69, of Hagerstown, Md., arraigned on a June 24 Edgartown charge of assault and battery to intimidate. Police said a cab driver told them he was sprayed with a hose and called racial and other epithets by Dillard when he was told the cab fare when he and his party were dropped off at Boldwater off Pohoganot Road. Pretrial hearing was set for Nov. 4.

Lauren M. Savoia, 28, of Edgartown, pleaded guilty to an August 13 Oak Bluffs charge of negligent operation of a motor vehicle, placed on a year’s probation and ordered to pay a $50 monthly probation fee and $300 in other fees. Charges of drunken driving and unlawful possession of fireworks were dismissed.
