Sometimes an artist is so wonderful it takes two galleries to promote her.

Beginning next week on Thursday, Sept. 29, and running through Oct. 10, the Dragonfly Fine Arts Gallery and Shephard Fine ArtSpace will be holding a joint retrospective showing for artist Nancy Furino.

At 82 years of age, Ms. Furino has been living and painting on the Vineyard since she moved here in 1980. A Copley Master, she is noted for her colorful work depicting scenes from Martha’s Vineyard and around the world.

Don McKillop of Dragonfly Gallery photographed and produced a retrospective catalog of some 65 images of Furino’s paintings. The catalog, and a giclee on canvas of Furino’s “Illumination Night”, are currently available for sale at both Dragonfly Fine Arts and Shephard Fine ArtSpace. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of books and giclees will benefit two of Ms. Furino’s favorite charities, the Martha’s Vineyard Drive for Life and Animal Shelter.

A reception will be held at the two galleries on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Dragonfly Gallery, 91 Dukes County avenue in Oak Bluffs and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Shephard Fine ArtSpace, 8 Uncas avenue, just off Circuit avenue, in Oak Bluffs.
