Please Adopt Us

The big news at the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard this week is that Binx, our beautiful black kitty with the long white whiskers, has finally found a home! Everyone of us at the shelter — staff and volunteers alike — are so happy for Binx. She had been at the shelter for a year and a half. We wish her new owner all the best and we will miss Binx very much, but this just goes to prove that we are a no-kill shelter — no matter how long an animal has been there. Have a happy home, Binx.

Our roster of cats available for adoption is getting smaller, and for that we are very grateful but we still have six beautiful cats who are looking for homes. They are: Chloe, who is about five, brindle and black and an unusual color combination; Annabelle, a sweet black and white cat about two years old; Murray and Kevin, who came to the shelter together and who should have found homes a long time ago, they are such fun together (Kevin is Russian blue and white and Murray is a beautiful ginger tiger); Bart, another handsome black cat; and Adelaide, a young tabby who has just had a litter of kittens (all adopted) and has just been spayed and is ready to find her new loving home. She is really young — almost a kitten herself and a sweetheart.

The shelter needs volunteers for the coming winter months. If you have a couple of hours a week to spare, please call. Shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shelter is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The telephone number is 508-627-8662.
