As a photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt captured many of the most famous images of the 20th century, from wars to movie stars. He was, in a sense, the world’s photographer. But he was also the Vineyard’s own, taking numerous photos during his many summer spent on the Island.

On Thursday, August 4, at 5:30 p.m., the Martha’s Vineyard Museum is hosting a panel discussion in conjunction with their latest exhibit, entitled Eisenstaedt and Us. The panel will feature Tom Thatcher, William Waterway Marks, Chris Morse and Alison Shaw and be moderated by chief curator at the museum, Bonnie Stacy.

The panelists will bring their individual perspectives on the photographer as a friend and mentor who influenced their lives and work. The discussion takes place at the Federated Church, located at 45 South Summer street in Edgartown. Admission is $8 for museum members and $12 for nonmembers. A reception follows the talk.
