We have been having some incredible weather. Sunny, cool at night and beautiful blue skies. As I write this it is pouring rain — but then we know we don’t have to water the gardens tomorrow!

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Matthew Graham, Sara Poggi and Meghan Sawyer, who all celebrated on June 19; Lauren Boyd and Raven McCormack, June 20; Alexis Condon, Mackenzie Condon and Angelina Montoya, June 22; Isabelle Murphy, June 23; and to Daniel Gaines, who celebrates his day today June 24.

Special birthday wishes to Jan Norton, who celebrated her day June 20. Jan is enjoying her daughter and son, Debbie and Stuart, and their spouses, Bill and Cathy, who are here to help celebrate her day plus Father’s Day.

Our street is very quiet now that Edgartown School is out. The kids on their last day sure were smiling, knowing that soon they would be free to do summer activities.

The word is traveling fast that the Stanley Cup will be at the school on Sunday from 9 to 11 a.m. I am sure that this will draw a big crowd and it will be fun to see who comes around.

I can’t believe that the Fourth of July weekend is only a week away! The town is getting busier and the town parking lot is filling more and more these days as employees park there, to walk or take the bus to downtown. And the tour buses are multiplying everyday.

There is a wonderful opportunity to hear American storytelling at its best if you happen to be on the Vineyard next month.

Storyteller Susan Klein will offer a storytelling concert, Through a Ruby Window: A Martha’s Vineyard Childhood, at 7:30: p.m. on Saturday, July 9, at the regional high school Performing Arts Center. Susan will create an evening of heartfelt and humorous stories from her book by the same name, to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Martha’s Vineyard. Tickets are $45, and the evening should be a pleasure for any adult and children 10 or older. A reception and book signing will follow. Tickets are available at our own Edgartown Books, as well as at Bunch of Grapes in Vineyard Haven, Craftworks in Oak Bluffs, Alley’s General Store in West Tisbury and online at mvol.com.

Remember that school is out, so drive carefully.

Have a great week, and keep the home candles burning.
