Please Adopt Us

Seven cats, five kittens, five guinea pigs, two dogs and one rabbit — the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard is bursting at the seams with animals needing homes.

The five little kittens will not be ready to leave their mother for several weeks and the shelter already has a long list of potential adopters. Please consider adopting one of our cats. They are: Maxine, a truly sweet, gentle tiger tabby; Chopper, a ginger male; Alexander, a big beautiful dark orange tiger; Tinkerbelle, a chubby tiger and white with double paws; plus Cookie, Binx, Dolly, Gracie, Angel (a special flame point Siamese), Hezzie (a big orange tiger who looks like a lion), Woody, Callie and Oprah.

Our two dogs are Nina, a black Lab who is the gentlest, sweetest dog who loves to go for walks, and Rascal, an American bulldog cross who loves to go for rides and walks.

And finally, we have five darling guinea pigs who would be great pets in a schoolroom, and we recently added a handsome brown and gray rabbit with a white bib.

The shelter hours are Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The phone number is 508-627-8662.
