It’s not the Estuaries Project, but a project based on the estuary; the first annual collaborative arts retreat working under the title of the Great Pond Project. Unlike the long-awaited scientific research, Vineyarders will quickly see the results of this arts retreat on Edgartown Great Pond: on Friday, August 27, at 3 p.m. is a performing arts open house presented by the contributing artists.

The open house will be held at the home of Patrick Gage, 69 Kanomika Road (off of Meeting House Way) in Edgartown.

The performance will include solo and ensemble performances by the 2010 Great Pond artists, including the first performance of an entirely new collaborative work born earlier in the week. This year’s artists are: Lori Alexander (dancer, choreographer), Dr. Kimberly Burja (percussionist, composer), Tom Colao (flute, jazz saxophone, composer) and Joey Sorge (actor, writer).

The informal performance is scheduled to last an hour and to be outdoors (indoors if the weather is inclement). Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn/beach chairs or blankets. Wine and hors d’oeurves will be served. Producers and artists will be anxious to hear feedback from their first audience. For details, e-mail njartscollective@comcast.net.
