A special program featuring the author and illustrator for Nighttide on a Vineyard Farm will be held on Tuesday, August 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. at State Road Restaurant as a benefit for the Island Grown Initiative (IGI).

The book signing will feature fun, animals and child-friendly food and drink in the garden of the restaurant. “We love to support IGI,” said Mary Kenworth, co-owner with her husband, Jackson, of the popular West Tisbury restaurant. “This is an easy way to do it; $2 from the sale of every one of these beautiful books stays right here to help IGI develop more programs to make the Vineyard agriculturally sustainable.”

Nighttide on a Vineyard Farm is the work of author Patty Schaal and painter Margot Datz. Ms. Schaal, a 25-year summer resident of the Vineyard, and Ms. Datz, who has lived here full-time for almost 30 years, collaborated to produce a book that looks at the moment when the children and animals on a Vineyard farm begin to bed down for the night. Ms. Datz recently showed the original work at a Grange Hall art show and will bring a few of the remaining pieces to the program.
