Sure, Mozart created some of the most beautiful music ever written, but he also was a master of comic theatre. New York City Opera dramaturg Cori Ellison will talk about the composer’s collaborations with some of the funniest guys in the (18th century) business when she presents All Things Mozart, a lecture and discussion at The Yard, on Tuesday, August 3, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Ms. Ellison has authored English singing translations of Hansel and Gretel, La Vestale, and Shostakovich’s Cherry Tree Towers for New York City Opera, English National Opera, and the Bard Summerscape Festival. She is currently dramaturg for the Ring cycle produced by Washington National Opera and San Francisco Opera, and she served as dramaturg for the Bard Festival’s triple bill of Offenbach operettas in 2005. She has lectured for the Royal Opera House/Covent Garden, Wexford Festival, Verbier Festival and Covent Garden Festival. She helped launch the Met’s simultaneous translation system, Met Titles, and has authored supertitles for opera companies across America. She writes for PBS’s Metropolitan Opera Presents series, The New Grove Dictionary of Opera, The Metropolitan Opera Guide to Opera on Video, The Compleat Mozart, and The New York Times.

Tickets are $50 for premium seats, $25 for general seats; $15 for seniors.
