Several Martha’s Vineyard students earned awards at Falmouth Academy’s annual Recognition Day ceremonies, June 12. The ceremonies honored character, hard work, imagination, personal and academic growth, and community achievements.

Lagan Trieschmann, class of 2010, the son of Beth and Stephen Trieschmann of Vineyard Haven, earned the all-school Bruce E. Buxton Award for Imagination as well as an award for excellence and leadership in martial arts. He will attend Princeton University this fall.

Clea Baumhofer, class of 2010, the daughter of Kim and Mark Baumhofer of Vineyard Haven, received awards for upper school distinction in French, distinction in chamber orchestra, and dedication in painting. Clea will enter Johns Hopkins University this fall.

Lily Cronig, class of 2010, the daughter of Jo Weinberg of West Tisbury and Donald Cronig of Vineyard Haven, received awards for upper school dedication in English and distinction in photography. She will be a freshman at Hampshire College.

Janaye Rooney, class of 2010, the daughter of Jan Paul and Richard Rooney of Vineyard Haven, earned the distinction in chamber orchestra award. Janaye will attend High Point University this fall.

Jenna Bernstein, class of 2011, the daughter of Jill and Jonathan Bernstein of Chilmark, received two awards for her contributions to Resonance, the academ’s literary magazine: first place in poetry for What They Don’t Remember and second place prose for Treasures.

Julia Guérin, class of 2014, the daughter of Susan and PierreGuérin of Edgartown, earned the award for middle school dedication in English.

Nathaniel Horwitz, class of 2014, the son of Geraldine Brooks and Tony Horwitz of Vineyard Haven, earned the Middle school award for dedication in math.
