Meals and More in the Meadow

Dance with a cow, sip tequila with a pig, or just chow down with a goat. It’s anything goes, farm style that is, at the Farm Institute’s annual fundraiser, Meals in the Meadow. Casa Noble pours the cactus liquor, Buckley’s Gourmet Catering fills the bellies, and Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish make music to grease your bones. Eat, drink and dance your way to a good time while doing good too.

The Farm Institute is celebrating 10 years of reconnecting children and adults to the land, animals, and most of all to each other. After all, what better way to break the ice than elbow deep in a pig trough. Camps, farm tours, lectures and sustainable agriculture are just a few of the ways the Farm Institute educates and engages all manner of folk, both young and adult, city or country.

Special guest Michelle Norris of NPR’s All Things Considered will be rolling up her sleeves. So can you, at the many interactive exhibits run by Farm teachers and students.

Sold to the cud chewer in the back! A vacation at a mountain villa in San Miguel de Allende. Prefer something closer to home? How about the Thaxter House in Edgartown with travel done by private jet? Both are up for auction. So is a weeklong stay at your house by a group of extremely productive laying hens. And if you happen to fall for one of those hens, there’s also a wedding package at the Captain Flanders House in Chilmark.
