The product of a global collaboration will be on display at the Virginia Weston Besse Gallery at Featherstone this Sunday, March 28. One Day in the Life is a documentary photography and writing exhibit that involves students from more than thirty countries around the world, including several at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School.

On Tuesday, March 23, students around the planet spent the day documenting the day’s events, recording even the most minute and mundane details in writing, photography and whatever else they could come up with. The result is 24 hours, captured and filtered through the perspective of young people from all walks of life.

What seems to be a boring, everyday occurrence to a teenager in Argentina can be completely alien and fascinating to a teen in Zambia. And the pan-global connection will continue at Sunday’s opening reception, when a live video chat with participating classes on the other side of the planet will be held over Skype.

The opening reception runs from 4 to 6 p.m., and the exhibit will be open to the public every day through April 7, from noon to 4 p.m. For details, e-mail the high school’s art, design and technology teacher, Chris Baer, at cbaer@mvyps.org or cbaer@vineyard.net.
