Kate Feiffer was elected to the board of the Martha’s Vineyard Film Society at its Oct. 23 meeting.

A regular attendee at film society screenings for many years, Ms. Feiffer also assisted with the Martha’s Vineyard International Film Festival held in September.

She is the author of five picture books, with two more slated for publication next spring, and one novel for children (all published by Simon & Schuster). Ms. Feiffer writes frequently for Martha’s Vineyard Magazine and has written for the Vineyard Gazette, Vineyard Style Magazine and other publications. Her commentaries have also been heard on NPR.

Before moving to the Vineyard year-round in 1998, she was a television producer in Boston at WHDH-TV News and on the NBC show Real Life. She was also the associate producer on Red Flag over Tibet which aired on Frontline (WGBH-PBS). She is the producer, director and writer of the award-winning documentary film Matzo & Mistletoe.

In the 1990s, Kate did three artist-in-residencies at the Tisbury School for video production. During these artist-in-residencies, she worked with students on a new magazine program, a documentary and a talk show. A West Tisbury summer resident during her childhood, she lives in Oak Bluffs with her husband Chris Alley and has a daughter at the Oak Bluffs School.
