Through the effort of the Tisbury School librarian, Patricia Ryan, and a grant from the National Endowment of the Humanities, the Tisbury School is showcasing an exhibition, Pictures of America, which documents the history of America through major American artists and their work.

The posters not only feature famous paintings, but sculptures, photography and craft works. The exhibition will be on display for the month of November in the passageway between the school and the library.

Then, during the week of Dec. 2 to 6, the work of Jackson Pollock will be on display in the main hall of the school. This exhibition, called Is it Art, is part of the school’s continuing art enrichment program and was made possible through funding from the Permanent Endowment for Martha’s Vineyard.

It is unique in its size, since the reproductions measure up to eight by 17 feet. The public is invited.
