“All Vineyard”: Kib Bramhall Returns

Kib Bramhall painted his first painting in 1949. Sixty years later, his skill and nuance have been honed to a razor sharp edge. He only shows every three or four years, so this Saturday’s reception, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Carol Craven Gallery, is truly a big deal. The last time Mr. Bramhall showed, he was flirting with abstraction, a departure from the landscapes and still lifes that have defined the bulk of his career. This time around, he has returned to realism, and the show, featuring all new works selected from the past three years, is expected to be a tour de force.

“It’s the strongest show I’ve ever mounted,” says Mr. Bramhall, with absolute confidence. “It’s a summation of all the style, techniques and subjects that made my career. It’s all Vineyard.”

The Carol Craven Gallery is located on Breakdown Lane, off Holmes Hole Road in Vineyard Haven. For details, call the gallery at 508-693-3535.
