Despite being a part of one of the most famous musical families in America, “Sister Kate” Taylor has had a career uniquely her own. After recording three albums and going out on nation-wide tours in the 1970s, Ms. Taylor decided to settle into a quieter life on Vineyard, where she spent several summers in a teepee with husband Charlie Witham and their growing family.

Award-winning filmmakers Liz Witham and Ken Wentworth, who happen to be Ms. Taylor’s daughter and son in law, have produced a feature length documentary in which Ms. Taylor shares her stories of a simpler world, viewed through the canvas flaps of a teepee, entitled Kate Taylor — Tunes from the Tipi and Other Songs from Home. It screen at the Capawock theatre in Vineyard Haven at 5:30 and 7:15 p.m. this Thursday night, August 13. A post-screening premiere party at Che’s Lounge will start at 9 p.m. Tickets to the premiere party are $60, or $50 in advance, available at the box office, online at docutunes.com, the Chilmark Store, Alley’s store, Midnight Farm, Aboveground Records and daRosa’s.
