Our lovely town has burst with all the greens and pinks a spring can give after a long rain and then the warm sun coming out. We went to Oak Bluffs and the water is beautiful and the beaches are welcoming. How could you not smile?

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Olivia Green-Lingren and Saren Quinn, who celebrated their day May 9; Devin Cronin, May 10; Gabriel Nunes, May 11; Kathryn Antonsson, Aubrey Ashmun, and Charlotte McCarron, May 12; Summer Cardoza, May 13; and Sheron DeMedeiros, who celebrates her day today.

Special balloons go out to Ruth Meyers who celebrated her day May 5; Dave Kish, our jazz guy, Cookie Gazaille, Bonnie Parent, Marylyn Scheerbaum and Patty Mundt, who all celebrated their day May 11; and to Jane Norton who celebrated her day May 13.

A big birthday wish goes out to my great niece Kaleigh Brown who celebrated her eighteenth birthday on May 10.

Congratulations to Bill and Beth Erickson who celebrated their twenty-fifth anniversary on May 12. Here is to twenty-five more.

It seems to have been a nice Mother’s Day. The weather was great except for a little wind but it did not stop people from being around the town. Donaroma’s had their open house and we all enjoyed the festivities. There were mothers all dressed ready to go to brunch or just going to plant their gardens.

Monday was the best though, as a lot of the mothers came in with gift certificates that their loved ones gave them. We always hear that they are the best gifts ever.

My neighbors were also busy on Mother’s Day as Zack Waller has returned home for the summer.

Mary Ellen Kresel flew to Chicago to be with her daughter and son in law, Susan and Jonathan Kaden. But best of all she spent time with grandsons Ari and Ben. They enjoyed reading and attended the Broadway show Mary Poppins at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in Chicago.

The Kresels were also thrilled when they were informed that their son Jonathan Kresel and his girlfriend Courtney Conklin became engaged over the weekend.

I noticed the other day that Ralph had put out some bird seed. We usually keep a little out in the spring but not as much as in the winter. So I wondered why he was so prompt with the food. As I was doing the dishes I happened to look up and saw a pair of catbirds on the feeder, which is one of his favorite birds. We watched as they were feeding and then noticed that one started to fluff up his feathers and look up waiting to get fed and we realized one was a baby. I can say we never tire of watching all these happenings.

Ralph said he was working up by Timmy and Linda Fullin’s house and saw a Baltimore oriole. I have tried to attract them but I think our neighborhood is too busy for them.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
