The Vineyard Playhouse invites everyone to a seasonal gathering for drinks and good cheer, with a small awards ceremony, on Sunday Dec. 7 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the playhouse on Church street in Vineyard Haven.

The playhouse will be offering soul-warming libations in the form of tempting treats, fortified wines and a selection of fine teas. Entertainment will be provided.

At 5:30 p.m. there will be a brief ceremony as we announce the winners of the Patricia Neal and Olga Hirshhorn Awards, followed by the presentation of the playhouse’s first annual Golden Crow Awards — in recognition of individuals who have contributed in one way or another to the playhouse’s continuing welfare and artistic success.

It’s the playhouse’s chance to “crow” about the unsung heroes behind its all-premiere season, which concluded with the first full production of Pulitzer prizewinner James Lapine’s Mrs. Miller Does Her Thing. All are welcome to celebrate the landmark summer season, and that the playhouse can survive, and continue to present critically acclaimed theatre, in such a small community.
