Only one other elm remains on the property. Shortly after the Civil War this section of town began to be developed, the church was moved to its present location, a blacksmith shop established where the garage now stands, the store had moved across the street to its present location, the Howes house was a private home and inn with three elms in the front yard, the Agricultural Hall had just been constructed by Moses Mitchell, new homes were built or moved to Music street and elm trees were planted throughout this area primarily for their beauty and shade in the summer.

Nicole Alley and her husband, Arsen Hambardzumian, of Taunton, visited her parents over the weekend. Arsen is an engineer and septic inspector and performed six inspections in Tisbury. They returned home on Monday.
