The weather has been cold at night and in the early morning. There was light frost on Wednesday morning. But the days are warm and the sun is shining brightly, and the moon has been beautiful at night. On Thursday night there were meteor showers.

Happy birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Carly Goldberg and Julia Gomes who celebrated their day Oct. 4, Eamon Sayles, Oct. 5, Michael Morris, Oct. 6, Taylor Blair, and Matthew Davies, Oct. 7, David Sweitzer, Oct. 8, and to Erin Hill who celebrated her day Oct. 9.

Congratulations go out to Annie Hale and Ray Long who celebrated their 16th anniversary on Oct. 3.

Annie also shared that they have two new additions to the family. They now have two black labs. Maisie is six months old and Maya is four months old. She said they keep each other busy, they play and crash then start all over again.

Jessica Burnham is making a trip to Nevins Farm on Nov. 11. Nevins Farm is in Methuen, Mass. It is the only shelter that takes in large animals. Jessica would like to take a care package with her so she is looking for donations. They can always use towels, fleece blankets, clippers, bowls, and all the things needed in tack rooms and cleaning supplies. If you have any donations you can call Jessica at 508-939-1646 or leave the donations at Sweetened Water Farm. They will also take checks.

Calling all Edgartown seniors. Next Tuesday at The Anchors, our town nurse, Nicole Barlett, will be there for lunch and discussion on up-coming flu shots, osteoporosis and conversation about future health education programs that seniors in town would be interested in attending. One of their senior registered nurses suggests you also ask about the pneumonia vaccine. You must register for this lunch, so call The Anchors at 508-627-4368 during the week between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

I was going back to work on Wednesday and when I pulled into the Dark Woods parking lot I couldn’t believe my eyes. There were six large tour buses and four of the Island sightseeing buses. That means that town was buzzing.

Well here we go again; there will be many a red eye at work in the next week or so as the Red Sox take on the Tampa Rays. Go Sox!

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
