Bill Stafursky has joined the board of Island Elderly Housing, Inc. Its president, John Early, said in a statement: “We are really pleased that Bill will be joining us in our mission of helping our low-income elderly friends and neighbors remain on the Island to which they have given so much.”

Mr. Stafursky has served on the Tisbury planning board and the board of appeals. Since moving to Oak Bluffs in 1979, he has served on the finance committee and chaired the school building committee.

He and his wife, Margaret, who teaches at the high school, ran the Around the Island Bicycle Race for a number of years.

Island Elderly Housing has been serving the Vineyard community since 1977. It currently provides 165 quality, affordable apartments for the Island’s low income elderly and disabled, enabling them to lead independent lives in one of four campuses. The organization manages Woodside Village and Aidylberg Village in Oak Bluffs and Hillside Village and Love House in Tisbury.
