Dancing in the circle — the fourth annual Aquinnah Wampanoag Powwow was a nice event despite the weather and the threat of a hurricane. Tribal members were present from Aquinnah, Mashpee, Narragansett, Eastern Pequot, Penobscot and several other tribes were represented as well. It is anticipated that the powwow will be a two-day event in 2009. If you missed the powwow this year, the annual T-shirts will be available at the tribal building for $15 each for adults and $10 for children.

As always, it was a pleasure to see all of them and their families.

For directions and to RSVP, please call 508-645-2270. Corinne and her brothers Luca and Lorenzo resided in Aquinnah summers since the 1950s with their parents, Dr. Guido and Mrs. Majno. Good news from Arnold and Norma Zack. Their Abyssinian cat Gus returned home after a week, kind of bedraggled, well-hydrated but definitely malnourished. Gus is back and safe in their hands once more and will thus become an indoor cat. Thank you to all of their neighbors who searched the neighborhood for him and to the residents of Jeffers Way who heard him for three nights but could not locate him.
