A discussion of Lighthouse Stewardship is open to all tonight at 5 p.m. at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum. The museums’s executive director, Keith Gorman, will talk about the history and renovations of Island lighthouses. The cost is $12, $10 for members.

The museum earlier this month celebrated the grand opening of the restored Edgartown Lighthouse with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The lighthouse was restored with Community Preservation Act funds from the town of Edgartown, and is open to the public for the first time in its 69-year history with the installation of a spiral staircase. A private donor has provided funds for two lighthouse keepers: David Savage and Alex Friedman will keep the lighthouse open Thursdays through Mondays throughout the summer and, along with volunteers, serve as interpreters of the history of the Edgartown Light.
