Kathy and Paul Domitrivich of Lola’s Southern Seafood are hosting a summer solstice fundraiser for Penelope Dickens on Sunday, June 22. Penelope is in her third year of cancer treatments and needs help meeting her basic living costs.

Participants can peruse the silent auction items while nibbling on tastes of fare donated by Island chefs. At 8 p.m. two internationally recognized musicians who call the Vineyard home will warm the dance floor with the smooth rhythm and flow of keyboardist Jeremy Berlin and the steaming voice of Johnny Hoy — enjoy the performance while they do new songs with old twists and old song with new twists.

The silent auction results will be called after 9:30 p.m.

Then the Mercy Beat will crank it up with a mix of their own original influential music that blends the sounds of acoustic music and hard rock and roll. Timely and original acerbic, hostile stories and lyrics are juxtaposed by Spanish ballads, moving guitar rifts and good old-fashioned rock’n’ roll. Keep your eyes open for a very special dancing treat too.

Tickets are a fully tax-deductible $20 at the door at Lola’s on the Beach Road, in Oak Bluffs. For details or to make a donation, call 508-693-1039 or 508-280-6650.
