New Hampshire advertising agency executive David Flood has produced a documentary on Vineyard life and the Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby.

The hour-long color film, Feeding the Water, will premiere today at 7 p.m. on MVTV and will run on the station through the remainder of the derby. Mr. Flood filmed for five weeks during the 2006 derby.

“The goal was to promote the derby, how special it is for the people on the Vineyard and the economic resource it is for the Island,” he said. Mr. Flood plans a second film with 2007 footage from the derby and Island.

The film includes dramatic Island footage, the catching of huge bass and a hilarious episode showing rookie angler Flood’s fishing follies.

“I called it Feeding the Water because that’s what it felt like I was doing,” Mr. Flood said. The DVD will sell for less than $20 at Island tackle shops and other retail locations.
