Fairies all in a row. Ivy Ashe

Sunday, March 30, 2014

The upstairs room of the Grange Hall was abuzz with activity Sunday afternoon, as students from the charter school ran through scenes from their upcoming play Peter Pan. Fairies dressed in every color of the neon rainbow practiced their fluttering, while Lost Boys wearing hoodies practiced looking sad after being captured by pirates. On stage, director Heather Capece guided the actors through blocking and music cues. Skyler Cameron, playing Peter Pan, pulled out his script to check his lines, and Lucia Capece, playing Peter's shadow, tried not to fall out the fake window on the set.

Parents dropped by with snacks and stopped to watch some of the action. Younger actors--the fairies and Lost Boys--left early in the afternoon, placing their costume pieces in the dozens of labeled Cronig's bags around the room. But the older actors remained on stage.

The show goes on.

The show opens Friday night at 6 p.m. Shows continue Saturday at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
