Whitney Schroeder moves past Fall River. Ivy Ashe

The MV United girls' U-16 team defeated visiting Fall River 4-0 in the first round of travel soccer playoffs, held Sunday at Veterans Park. The girls played 80 minutes of regulation to a 0-0 draw, but got on the board early in overtime on a Nataljia Lakis score. Lakis assisted Livy Smith on the team's next goal, and Smith tapped in her second goal shortly after. Though the pace of the game slowed in the second period of overtime, the Vineyard nevertheless notched one more goal on a long shot by Courtney Howell. 

The team will play Seekonk on Sunday in the next round of the playoffs.
