The annual Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Kids' Day brought crowds to the Oak Bluffs Steamship pier early Sunday morning. Even before the sun had risen, the two hour fishing competittion was underway. The contest is open to all kids ages 4 to 14. Fish are judged by length and not weight.

Myles Sprague, 9, took home the overall grand prize with the largest catch of the day, a 17.25-inch bluefish. All kids went home with a T-shirt. "They're just so thrilled to be catching fish," derby president Ed Jerome said.
