The Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) celebrated its 10th annual Island powwow Saturday and Sunday at Aquinnah Circle.

Tribal members of all ages participated in native drumming and dances. Members of both Aquinnah and Mashpee Wampanoag tribes attended. There were craft vendors and food was provided by the Wampanoag tribes.

Only three of the vendors were Mashpee. Most were Aquinnah, and some others were from different tribal nations.

Terrific photos capture the joy of the powwow. I can almost hear the drums, chants, and foot stomping.!
