Detective Sergeant Dolby joins the RISE dance troupe. Alison L. Mead

Snow flurries fell lightly as the annual Christmas in Edgartown Parade began Saturday morning.

"Merry Christmas everybody," said traffic officer Neal Condlin through the speaker in his cruiser. Behind him, RISE dancers kicked up their heels as Det. Sgt. Chris Dolby casually slipped into the group and raised his hands in unison.

Temperatures in the low 20s didn't stop parade goers from enjoying the annual centerpiece of the weekend. Red and white Santa hats were scattered through the crowds as children — and many adults — chased after candy thrown by floats and cheered as the parade passed by. There were teddy bears, alpacas, reindogs, elves, angels, the Grinch, Frosty the Snowman and last but not least the man everyone was waiting for — Santa Claus.

The festivities in Edgartown continue throughout the day Saturday and Sunday. For a complete schedule of events, visit edgartownboardoftrade.com.
